College roundup: Butler grad David Bocci earns All-America status at NCAAs in 200 butterfly
David Bocci nearly medaled, broke his own Clarion University record and ended his collegiate swimming career with All-America status.
The Butler grad and senior with the Golden Eagles swam 1:46.10 in the men’s 200 butterfly at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis on Friday.
Bocci’s time, in his third nationals appearance, landed him 10th in the nation. It’s also .12 seconds shy of the PSAC record set by West Chester’s Ben Kuntz in 2008.
– Seneca Valley grad Jocelyn McNany was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference softball player of the week after hitting .522 in eight games. She hit two home runs, four doubles and a triple, scored eight runs and drove in eight more.
– Slippery Rock senior outfielder Alexsa Hurd was named the PSAC Western Division softball athlete of the week by hitting .304 in eight games (SRU went 1-7) with three homers, two doubles, six RBIs and five runs scored. She had a walk-off RBI single in a 2-1 win over Bentley.
