Karns City’s Addison Burrows went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and a run scored, but Freeport softball downed the Gremlins 10-4 in eight innings Tuesday.
Aubree Taylor and Bailee O’Donnell also had doubles in the loss. Burrows also pitched six innings, striking out nine.
Freeport’s Leah Clark pitched seven innings, striking out three, and at the plate she homered, doubled twice and drove in five runs. Addison Gourley had two hits and an RBI.
Seneca Valley 12, Armstrong 1 — Reigning Butler Eagle 2023-24 Athlete of the Year Lexie Hames began the season with a bang, roping two home runs and driving in four runs at the plate. She finished 3-for-5.
In the circle, Hames struck out 20 and allowed just one hit and three walks. Bella Gross homered, Lauren Folino (2-for-4) drove in three and Addie Winkle (2-for-4) had two RBIs.
Mars 11, Southmoreland 9 — Gabrielle Rapport had four RBIs for the Planets.
Butler picked up its first win of the season, sweeping Mars 3-0 by set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-21 Tuesday night.
Mason Anderson recorded a double-double of 16 assists and 14 digs, while Alfons Semmler had a team-high 11 kills.
Peter Zulick added nine blocks for the Golden Tornado (1-1), and Alec Teff had seven aces.
Seneca Valley 3, Armstrong 0 — No further details were provided for the Raiders’ win.
Butler’s Andrew Bocci won his Singles 1 match Monday 6-0, 6-0 over Othmane Eljoufri, but the Tornado fell to North Hills 4-1.
Moon 4, Seneca Valley 1 — The Raiders’ Doubles 1 pair of Paul Weis and Eric Chen won the only point of the day, 6-4, 6-3 over Jack Erhard and Luca Stengl.
