Rose Foerster
Rose E. (Demarco) Foerster, affectionately known as Rosie, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born Jan. 16, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Rosie’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her boundless love for her family, and her commitment to her community.
Rosie was predeceased by her parents, Vera and George DeMarco; William Foerster, devoted husband of 58 years; cherished son, James Foerster; and her siblings, Joe DeMarco, Mario DeMarco, Norma Rape and Irene Hawkins.
She is survived by a legacy of love, including her children, Theresa Bogacki (Tom), David (Cindy), and Karl (Tracey); her grandchildren, Christy Rihel, Michael Bogacki, Greg Bogacki (Noemi), Matthew (Emmarie), Daniel, Julie Colwell (David), Leah Sheldon (Adam) and Eric (Julie Vietmeier); as well as her great-grandchildren, Zachary Barnett (Isabella), Seth Bogacki, Jeorge Rodriguez, Lucas Foerster, Samuel Foerster and Beckett Sheldon. Rose was blessed with two great-great-granddaughters, Finley and Freya Barnett.
A proud graduate of Perrysville High School, Rose’s first job was working as the “popcorn girl” at the Perry Theater, where fate smiled upon her, and she met her beloved Bill, who also worked there. Later, she worked at the Bell Telephone Company, until her true calling came when she became a mother to her son, Jimmy, born with special needs. She dedicated 24 years to nurturing and fostering his spiritual growth, showing the depth of her love and strength of character.
Rosie’s life was marked by her deep faith and active involvement in her church communities. Initially a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Zelienople, she graced the choir with her voice and served as a substitute teacher. In her later years, she attended daily Mass at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township and was revered as the family’s Spiritual Warrior. Her dedication to her faith community was evident in her roles as a greeter, reader, festival worker, and rosary group leader. The priests of St. Ferdinand’s held a special place in their hearts for Rosie's homemade spaghetti sauce and pies — a gesture of her love and care.
Her talents extended beyond the church doors. Rosie was an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful clothing for her children and grandchildren, and generously donating infant clothing and baptismal garments. Her hands were rarely still, as they were often busy with her other passions — cooking, baking, and tending to her flower garden. Rosie’s home was a sanctuary of comfort, always adorned with fresh flowers, the aroma of homemade soup, and the promise of chocolate chip cookies for all who entered.
Later in life, Rose enjoyed going to shows with her friends, including trips to the casino. Words like faith-filled, loving and friendly only begin to describe Rosie. She was a beacon of light for her family, friends and anyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. Rosie’s steadfast positivity, even in the face of life’s challenges, was a source of inspiration to many.
