Doris Whitehead

Whitehead

Doris Ann Whitehead, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 15, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family at her son’s home in Florida.

Doris was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Karns City, the daughter of the late H. Donald and Dorothy Anderson Gaiser.

She attended Fairview Township-Karns City High School, where she loved singing in the chorus and traveling to choral concerts. She married Jack H. Whitehead on Nov. 25, 1955, settling in Gibsonia to raise their children. As a travel agent for many years, Doris embraced her love of adventure, exploring destinations across the globe, including Africa, Australia, Iceland and Rio de Janeiro.

After retirement, she and Jack split their time between East Brady, during the summers and Stuart, Fla., in the winters, enjoying the best of both worlds. Doris was a devoted member of the East Brady United Methodist Church, where she shared her musical talents as the organist. She also loved gardening, cooking, and, most of all, spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are son, Rick Whitehead of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and daughter, Robin Lee of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Linda Echtler Whitehead; brother, Dennis (Elaine) Gaiser; sisters-in-law, Sally Pint and Elaine Schwartz; grandchildren, Jackson Wessel, Evan Wessel, Lindsey (George) Blackwell, Nicole (James) Farley, Ashley McNamara and Michael (Lynn) Clarke; great-grandchildren, Sammi, Emma, Mathew, A.J., Caleb, Clayton and Cam; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; son, Ronald Whitehead; brother, Donald Gaiser; sister, Rebecca Gaiser; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Gaiser; and grandson, Samuel Clarke.
