Reed Walters
Reed P. Walters, 92, of Butler, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away early Monday morning, March 17, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born in Venango Township on July 28, 1932, he was the son of the late James and Olive Clawson Walters.
A graduate of Venango High School, Reed later served in the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged as a corporal. He started a long career in customer service. He was employed by the former J.M. Beatty Auto Sales as the service manager for 28 years, later with Cervelli Auto in Franklin for 20 years, and with Walmart in Butler for years as a sales associate.
He was a member of the F&AM Lodge 521 of Parker and a lifetime member of the former VFW Hilliards Post 7840. He was a Bethel United Methodist Church of Eau Claire member since 1956. He was a Sunday school teacher, on the board of trustees, treasurer, and lay leader. He also served on the Eau Claire Borough Council for over 20 years, many as president.
He was married to Norma Jean Keil Walters on Dec. 12, 1955, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2019.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy (Brandon) Rozell of Butler; two sons, Jeff Walters of Eau Claire and Chris Walters (Joseph Vogrin) of Bethlehem; his grandchildren, Amber (Lindsey) Walters, Ashley Walters, Abby (Greg) Bamberger, Caitlin Rozell and Reed Rozell; four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Mackenzie, Bradley and Oaklee; and one brother, Todd Keil of Grove City.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Breaden and Ralph Walters; and his sisters, Elizabeth Vincent, Sandy Minor and Joanne Walters.
WALTERS — A gathering of friends and family of Reed P. Walters, who died Monday, March 17, 2025, will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m. April 17, at Bethel Eau Claire Fellowship Church, 112 N. Washington St., Eau Claire. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Reed’s honor may be made to the charity of choice.
