Butler man charged with threatening woman, unborn child
A Butler man is accused of threatening to kill a woman and her unborn child.
Dustin Anthony Black, 18, was arrested Thursday morning, March 20, after police responded to a domestic violence incident. He was charged Friday with making terroristic threats, simple assault and tampering with evidence.
According to a criminal complaint, police responded to the 300 block of Mitchell Avenue on Thursday morning. Dispatchers told police the caller was waiting at the Speedway on Hansen Avenue. At Speedway, the victim told police she had argued with Black at the Mitchell Avenue residence.
She told police that while she was in her vehicle, Black had threatened to kill her and her unborn child before reaching into his waistband. She believed “he was going to pull out his black handgun with ‘a long clip of at least 50 rounds’ and use it.” She then sped off down the street. She told police she feared for her life and feared he was about to shoot at her vehicle.
The complaint stated that when officers arrived at the residence, they spoke with Black on his front porch, and Black was detained while trying to delete video of himself saying he was going to kill the woman. The video and audio were captured by a Ring camera on the porch.
Black was taken into custody by police. Probation officers arrived at the residence to check for the firearm, which was not found.
The criminal complaint states police obtained the Ring camera footage from Black’s mother. The footage showed a verbal altercation, in which Black can be heard saying they can fight if the woman wanted to. He can be heard saying they can do “face shots,” referring to punching her in the face, the complaint stated. The woman is just shy of being nine months pregnant, according to the complaint.
Officers determined Black was able to delete the video just before being detained.
An officer’s body camera footage also shows Black trying to delete the video. In the body camera footage, the audio of when Black tried to delete the video can be heard. Black can be heard saying “I’ll kill you” before trying to delete the video, according to the complaint.
The woman also said Black was pushing down on the window of her vehicle’s driver-side door and struck the window with his hand when it was rolled up, according to the complaint.
Black faces misdemeanor charges of making terroristic threats with intent to terrorize someone else, simple assault and tampering with evidence. He is not incarcerated.
His preliminary hearing is set for April 21 before District Judge William Fullerton.
