FirstEnergy replacing underground cable in Cranberry Township

FirstEnergy is replacing underground cable along Leatherbark Road, Briarwood Lane and Valley View Drive in Cranberry Township, according to a news release.

The cable will be installed next to the existing line within the right of way. Impact to driveways, sidewalks and landscaping is unknown, but will be minimized by boring horizontally when possible.

A few short, planned power outages may be needed to transfer customers from the old cable to the new system as the project moves forward. Impacted customers and public officials will be notified in advance of any scheduled outages.

“We are investing in modern, durable underground cable with an expected life span of 40 years which should provide decades of reliable electric service for our Penn Power customers,” FirstEnergy president John Hawkins said.

Work is expected to be completed this summer.
