Jackson Twp. supervisors hold hearing for 269-lot residential development

JACKSON TWP — Township supervisors held a public hearing for a new planned residential development during a meeting Thursday, March 20.

A tentative application for Emerald Valley was submitted by Heurich Construction. It calls for the construction of 269 single-family lots off Fanker Road.

While all of the lots will be located on 161 acres in the township, a portion of the development, specifically the access points, will be in Beaver County’s Franklin Township.

“Their access is primarily on Route 288, so the access in either case had to be through Beaver County because there wasn’t land accessible within the Jackson Township side of the property,” township manager Chris Rearick said.

According to the developer, who gave an presentation to more than a dozen residents and township staff, the plan is to divide the project into five phases.

The developer also noted that a community center would be built as part of the development. That center would most likely be built sometime between phases two and three. Pedestrian sidewalks also are slated to be installed on both sides of the street throughout the development.

Township supervisors have 45 days to approve or deny the application. The vote is expected to take place next month.

“It will likely be on next month’s agenda,” Rearick said.
