Richard Craig
Richard R. “Dick” Craig, 72, of East Brady, died Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born May 28, 1952, in Clarion, he was the son of Roy S. and Rita L. (Jones) Craig.
Dick was a 1970 graduate of Union High School where he excelled in football, basketball and track. He was awarded the All Sports Award at Union High School in 1970. Dick won the district championship in the triple jump and went to the Pennsylvania State Championships for track and field. He held the triple jump and long jump record at Union High School for 20 years.
He attended Robert Morris University. Dick worked for Bracken Construction for 20 years, and continued his career at Penreco, where he retired after 20 years.
He enjoyed playing softball for the Tootsie Roll Inn, playing golf and shuffleboard and socializing at the American Legion. Dick was also the self-proclaimed president of the 2nd Avenue Neighborhood Watch. Most of all, Dick loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, Alexa and Kallum.
Dick had a larger-than-life personality. He always had a smile on his face and a wise crack at the ready. He was truly one of a kind and a true hero to his family. His laughter and his memory will live on forever. He will be truly missed.
Dick is survived by his wife, Dana L. (Bowser) Craig, whom he married Sept. 13, 1975; his children, Melissa L. (Brandon) Hayes of Lebanon, Pa., Kelsey A. Craig (Dylan Harding) of East Brady and Kody R. Craig (Krystal Zarnick) of Butler; and grandchildren, Alexa L. Hayes and Kallum T. Craig.
He also is survived by one brother, William Craig (Christine Cooney) of Bridgeville, Pa.; and one sister, Janet Moore of Minnesota.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and four infant siblings, Gregory, Sheena, Jonathan and Jackie.
CRAIG — All services for Richard R. “Dick” Craig, who died Saturday, March 22, 2025, will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction of BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, East Brady.
