Butler woman charged with DUI, aggravated assault with vehicle
A Butler woman is facing eight charges including a felony in connection with a January incident in which she reportedly drove into oncoming traffic and caused a head-on vehicle collision.
Rebecca A. Lambert, 23, was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence; one misdemeanor count each of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of 0.16% or greater and driving under the influence unsafe driving; and five other summary charges.
According to a police affidavit, the incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Jan. 31 along Route 8 in Penn Township. An investigation determined Lambert’s vehicle veered into the center turning lane and then into oncoming traffic, striking another vehicle head-on. One occupant of the other vehicle suffered a bilateral femur fracture and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
On the scene, according to the police affidavit, officers noticed the smell of alcohol on Lambert’s breath, and she told them, through slurred speech. that she had multiple drinks at Cenci’s Pizzeria & Bar. Lambert also was taken to Allegheny General.
The police affidavit states Lambert’s blood test, which was finished on Feb. 12, revealed a blood-alcohol level of 0.161% — more than twice the legal limit in Pennsylvania of 0.08%.
