Michael Codispot
Michael A. “Mike” Codispot, 81, of Butler, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, Saturday, March 22, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born in Butler on May 27, 1943. He was the son of the late Leonard and Dorothy DeRita Codispot. Mike was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of more than 57 years, Judy Barto Codispot.
Mike served for four years in the U.S. Navy. He was a longtime member of the laborers union, and retired from AK Steel in Butler.
Nothing meant more to Mike than his family. He is survived by three children, James Codispot and his wife, Julie; Kimmy Frazier and her husband, Charlie; and Kelly Michalek and her husband, Dan; and a brother, Leonard Codispot.
He is also survived by his greatest joy, his grandchildren, Chelsea, Ashlie, Michael, Bree, Taylor, Jack, David, John, Luke, Anna and Sophie; and great-grandchildren, Micah, Greyson, Heston, Harlee, Mason, Jude, Cliff and Will; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
“Little Mike” was a VIP member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy Club and the Italian Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He liked spending time at his camp in Erie, and his camp on the Allegheny in East Brady, where he was affectionately known as “The Godfather.”
“Little Mike” will be remembered for his colorful stories and his shed full of stuff.
Mike was everyone’s “Pap.” He was a great friend and would do anything for anyone. He will be missed greatly.
CODISPOT — Private funeral arrangements for Michael A. “Mike” Codispot, who died Saturday, March 22, 2025, are under the direction of HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA.
A celebration of “Little Mike’s” life will be held at 3 p.m. May 17, at the Sons and Daughters of Italy Club, 338 S. Main St., Butler (enter inside glass doors).
