Buffalo, Clinton townships to form joint tax collection district for remainder of 2025
Buffalo and Clinton townships plan to form a joint tax collection district for the remainder of 2025.
The creation of the district was necessitated by the absence of Buffalo Township’s regular tax collector, Robyn Fleischman, who has served in the role since 2021. Due to illness, Fleischman is unable to serve in that capacity this year.
Section 5511.4b of the Pennsylvania Statutes allows townships to create a joint tax collection district with an adjoining township in the event of a vacancy in the position of tax collector in the first township.
Clinton Township’s board of supervisors approved the measure during its monthly agenda-setting meeting on Monday, March 25. Buffalo Township’s board of supervisors has yet to hold a vote on the measure.
Taxes for both townships will be collected by Clinton Township’s tax collector, Linda Halstead.
“The attorney at Buffalo asked us at Clinton Township, and asked Linda Halstead if she would be OK with collecting until the end of 2025 for Buffalo,” said Clinton Township manager Ashley Kohley. “It is allowable through resolution to have a joint tax collection effort, and Linda Halstead was onboard with taking over that tax collection.”
According to the text of the resolution, the joint agreement will expire at the end of 2025.
Nearby Winfield Township is dealing with a similar situation, as their former tax collector, Donna Nagle, resigned on Jan. 31. This year, Winfield Township residents are asked to pay their taxes either online or at the Butler County Treasurer’s Office.
