William ‘Jamie’ Skelley
With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved William “Jamie” Skelley, who peacefully left us at his home in Homosassa, Fla., on Friday, March 14, 2025. He was 56 years old.
Born July 18, 1968, in Butler, Jamie was the cherished son of James Skelley (deceased) and Anna (Hempfling) Skelley Zang. He is now reunited with his father and his brother, Tracy Skelley, both of whom preceded him in death.
Jamie is survived by his loving mother, Anna Zang; his brother, Darby Skelley; his brother, Duke Skelley; his sister, Serena (Skelley) Martz; as well as three nieces; two nephews; two great-nephews; and many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.
Jamie’s life was marked by an unwavering love for his family and a deep compassion for all living creatures. As a child, he spent countless hours fishing — a hobby that always brought him peace and joy. His love for animals, particularly cats, was especially profound. Jamie’s connection to these gentle creatures was a reflection of his own kind heart and nurturing spirit. He found solace in their quiet presence, and they, in turn, gave him comfort and companionship throughout his life.
As we say goodbye to Jamie, we turn to the comforting words of our Catholic faith, finding peace in the promise of eternal life:
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live.” John 11:25
We take solace in knowing that Jamie has been embraced by the eternal love of our Lord, now at peace in his loving arms. While his physical presence is no longer with us, Jamie’s spirit remains alive in the memories we cherish and the love he so freely gave.
A service will be held for family and close friends at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Butler County Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jamie’s memory to the Butler County Humane Society, a cause that was near and dear to his heart.
Rest in peace, dear Jamie. You will be forever missed but never forgotten. Your love and light will continue to inspire and comfort us, now and always.
