High school sports roundup: Knoch, Karns City softball slug their way to big wins
Knoch softball thumped Kiski 11-0 Friday evening as Marlee Fraser fired six scoreless innings of 10-strikeout, three-hit ball.
Lizzie Danik and Lindsey Wise each had two hits.
Karns City 13, Highlands 5 — The Gremlins’ bats caused the Golden Rams problems all evening.
Ronnie Radaker was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored an a double; leadoff hitter Lyrik Reed was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs; and Jessica Rodgers was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Aubrey Taylor scored three times.
Addison Burrows earned the win in the circle, striking out five over four innings while allowing two earned runs.
Shady Side Academy beat Butler 13-1, with Grant Holt scoring the Tornado’s lone goal.
Max Weiland had 17 saves.
Mars 14, Peters Township 2 — No other stats were provided.
Several games were postponed due to Friday’s rain.
Butler softball’s road game at North Allegheny will be played 1 p.m. Saturday. Seneca Valley softball’s home game against Blackhawk will now be played 4 p.m. April 25. Games that were postponed with no new dates yet set included: Kiski at Butler baseball and Knoch at Plum boys tennis.
