Helen Yaroschak

Yaroschak

Helen R. Yaroschak, 91, of Saxonburg, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Seasons of Saxonburg.

Born Jan. 23, 1934, in West Kittanning, she was the daughter of John and Wilda Schall Waltenbaugh. Her childhood home was in Garrett’s Run near Kittanning.

Helen is survived by her sons, John P. (Teresa) Yaroschak of Butler and Joseph A. (Barbara) Yaroschak of Butler; and her two grandchildren, Chad and Chelsey Yaroschak.

Through the years, Helen was a very versatile woman. Along with her lifelong career as mother to her two sons, she also wore many hats throughout her life. Working at the A&P grocery store, the Cutaway Meat Market, hosting many foster children, and many years as a bus driver for Bauman Bus, to name a few.

Helen was always a very supportive mother. When her sons were racing stock cars, she would hurry home after the races to put on a feast for everyone to enjoy at the end of a long night of racing.

Helen’s most prized activity was working in her garden. She was very meticulous keeping it free from weeds and growing wonderful veggies to cook up in great meals and canning the leftovers to save for a cold winter’s night.

Over the span of her life, Helen made many dear friends and acquaintances, leaving every life she touched with lasting memories. From the time she was born, she was very charismatic, protective, loving and passionate about every aspect of her life. Hopefully, her family and friends can fill the profound void that Helen has left with thoughts, memories and love for their spectacular mom, grandmother, foster mom and friend … “Say not in grief that our mother is gone, but give thanks that she was yours.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Yaroschak on March 2, 2025; one brother, Roy Waltenbaugh; and one sister, Nellie Macon.
