Butler man dies in crash
A Butler man died Saturday morning in a motorcycle accident on Route 422, state police said.
Ronald E. Litzinger, 43, was killed around 11 a.m. when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was driving westbound on Route 422 crashed just east of East Butler Road.
State police said Litzinger’s bike veered from the right lane of traffic into the left lane, making contact with the center median and then traveling back into the right lane, where it ultimately struck a guide rail on the northern side of Route 422 West.
Police said Litzinger was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Multiple witnesses reported to police that the bike “began wobbling violently” while heading westbound. Police said it was a prime factor in the crash.
East Butler Ambulance and Herman Volunteer Fire Department were assisted on scene by Malinski’s Towing. LifeFlight and Stat MedEvac were initially called out, but were soon advised to stand down.
Dispatch initially reported there were two patients at the scene, with one who was unresponsive. In the state police update provided Saturday afternoon, there was no update on the other person involved.
