James Seibel

Seibel

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, James Richard Seibel, on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the age of 77. Jim was a man who brought joy, love and light into the lives of all who knew him.

Born on April 21, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Jim was a hardworking, dedicated man who cherished the Lord and his family above all else. He was a loving husband to Helen Marie Seibel, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter and memories that will be treasured forever.

As a father, Jim was a guiding force, offering wisdom, support and unconditional love. His children, Thomas Merrill Marshall (wife, Andrea Marshall) and Lawrence James Seibel (wife, Jennifer Seibel), will forever remember his strength, patience and devotion to them. He was a proud grandfather to Joshua Kevin Marshall (wife, Maria Marshall), Leah Marie Waltz née Marshall (husband, Zach Waltz), Lexie Lynn Marshall, Johnna Reese Seibel and Emma Rose Seibel; and great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren, Bella Ann, Jaden, Evelyn, Raelyn, Oliver and Lydia, with whom he shared countless moments of happiness. He taught them the values of kindness, generosity and resilience.

He is survived by his sister, Margret “Peggy” Mitchell, and preceded in death by his brother, Joseph “Skip” Seibel. The three siblings had shared a life of closeness, laughter and memories that will live on.

Jim was a true friend to many. His loyalty, kindness and infectious laughter left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, and his friendships were a testament to his genuine and loving nature. Jim was well known for the incredible hugs he gave to all he loved.

In his professional life, Jim was first a U.S. Marine that fought in Vietnam and was stationed at Marine Barracks “8th & I” in Washington, D.C., as a chief cook and honor guard. Later, Jim worked as an executive chef for 45 years, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and patrons alike. He was known for his integrity, work ethic and commitment to excellence. His dishes brought a special kind of joy to family and social gatherings for the rest of his life. Cooking was his love language.

Jim was very passionate about Fairmont Presbyterian Church and his church family. He found joy in providing fellowship, friendship and fine foods for the church family, and it brought him closer to those he loved and to his community. Jim also enjoyed fishing; he found it provided a profound sense of oneness with nature and closeness with those he fished with.

Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and generosity that will never be forgotten.

Jim will be deeply missed, but his love and memory will remain forever in our hearts.
