John Knox

Knox

John Everett Knox, of West Sunbury, died at his home on the first day of spring, Friday, March 21, 2025, after an extended illness.

He was born in Evans City on Sept. 22, 1947. His parents were Ralph Everett Knox and Gladys (Zeigler) Knox.

John was a self-employed taxidermist, a sheet metal worker and a union steamfitter with Local 449, retiring after 40 years.

He is survived by his best friend and life companion, Janet Gill Shilling; his son, John J. Knox; daughters, Evette O. Hoffman and Evon L. Filges; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John was an avid hunter for many years and filled his game room with the trophies that he mounted. He was a true sportsman and eventually gave up the hunt after moving to his own forest in the West Sunbury area. He said he didn’t want to harvest anymore animals, he just enjoyed watching them. His son and grandson continued to hunt and provide fresh meat.

KNOX — A private memorial to celebrate the life of John Everett Knox, who died Friday, March 21, 2025, will be held at a later date.

The Young family of WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, West Sunbury, has assisted with arrangements.
