Knoch school renovation inches toward completion

Knoch School District’s high school renovation project is inching toward completion.

“Since the last meeting, there’s been a lot of finished work that’s being finalized,” John Pappas, president of Eckles construction, told Knoch’s school board Wednesday, April 2.

Eckles Construction updated Knoch’s board on new change orders, progress on the end phases of the renovation project and prep work being done on remaining work outside of the building.

The project is expected to be completed at the end of this summer, just in time for the 2025-26 school year.

Eckles’ presentation showed many of the classroom areas and restrooms inside the newly renovated building are completed. Outside, construction crews are currently working on a new sidewalk along Governors Drive. Crews are also inserting signage and remaining siding panels on the outside of the newly renovated portions.

The board is still considering whether to include fixing the auditorium stage before construction wraps up.

Total change orders as of March 2025 are now $686,788. The project’s total budget is about $39 million.

Knoch unveiled its new commons area to high school students Feb. 21. Since then, the learning steps have been frequently used, according to Superintendent David Foley.

“There’s kids sitting on the steps every day, all the time,” Foley said.
