Robert Hillberry II

Robert L. Hillberry II, of Butler Township, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

Born Aug. 5, 1932, in Smithfield, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert and Elsie Hayes Hillberry.

Robert had retired from Robinson Industries Fan Works in Harmony. He belonged to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler. He was a member of the John Mair Lodge No. 729 F&AM of Mars and the New Castle Consistory. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He belonged to the American Legion No. 117 of Butler and the Moose Lodge No. 64 of Butler. He will be most remembered as playing the city of Butler’s Santa Claus for almost 40 years.

Surviving are his two daughters, Debra Turley and Beverly Hatfield, both of Branchland, W.Va.; his brother, Lewis Hillberry of Mannington, W.Va.; his sisters, Mary Williams of Zelienople, Thelma Coen of Mannington, W.Va. and Nita Watson of Mannington, W.Va. Also surviving are five grandchildren of Branchland, W.Va.; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, who passed away in 1987; and his second wife, Evelyn, who passed away in 2017; his brother, James Hillberry; his sister, Ethel Price; his sons-in-law, Earl E. Turley and Michael S. Hatfield; and his grandson, Dustin C. Turley.

HILLBERRY — Funeral arrangements for Robert L. Hillberry II, who died Wednesday, April 2, 2025, were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

Robert will be laid to rest privately at Pinewood Memorial Gardens.
