Harold R. “Bud” Bauer, 80, of Butler, passed away at home Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Bud was born June 30, 1944, in Cabot, and was the son to Harold W. and Christine G. (Trofimuk) Bauer. He married Karen E. Singer April 1, 1972.

Bud grew up in Saxonburg and graduated from Knoch High School.

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1965 to 1967 as an administrative specialist, earning the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Marksman (Rifle) Medal.

Bud’s last 58 years had been working with slag steel production and he was employed by TMS International.

He was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church, Butler.

Bud enjoyed fishing, reading history and political books, and bird watching.

Bud is survived by his wife, Karen, at home; three children, David P. (Judy A.) Bauer, Phoenix, Ariz., Debra (Kevin) Minor, Jackson Center and Kellie (Stephen) Walker, Allison Park; six grandchildren, Julie Fierros, Jennifer Schwab, Jessica Bauer, Morgan McNany, Alexa and Aiden Birckbichler; six great-grandchildren, Jasmine Fierros, Kurtis Schwab, Kyle Schwab, Christopher Schwab, Jenna Bauer and Riley Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Tanner Edwards; a sister, Barbara Bauer; and two brothers, Jim and John Bauer.

BAUER — Private family services for Harold R. “Bud” Bauer, who died Saturday, April 5, 2025, will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, and will be officiated by Pastor Jarod Crawford.

Burial will follow in Union Home Cemetery with military honors.
