High school sports roundup: Butler softball trounces Woody High; Freeport baseball downs Ligonier Valley

Lily Vicari fell a double short of hitting for the cycle, turning in what tied for a game-high four RBIs as Butler blasted Woodland Hills 25-0 in softball action. Kaylin Garbinski also had four runs driven in for the Golden Tornado, while Alaina Dailey, Kyra Olivares, Isabella Curzi, Chloe Schoentag and Alexis Myers had multi-RBI performances.

Seneca Valley 11, Canon-McMillan 1 — Liv Herrem went 2 for 4 and pushed four runs across for the Raiders. Lexie Hames pitched all six innings, striking out 15, and hit a home run at the plate.

Karns City 13, A-C Valley 8 — Lyrik Reed and Ronni Radaker had three-hit games for the Gremlins. They combined for a total of three RBIs.

Baseball

Luke Whitfield had a home run and Kason Barker, Gage Blystone, and Gavin Tola doubled in a 14-2 Freeport win over Ligonier Valley. Dustin Kohan went four innings on the mound, striking out six and allowing two hits.

Track and field

Adraya Baxter won the 100 and 300 hurdles and Madi McGarrah the 800, but Butler bowed to North Allegheny 80-70. Audrey Sansom (triple jump), Jules Lockwood (discus) and Jocie Slesinski (200) were the other individual winners for the Golden Tornado.

North Allegheny (boys) 79 1/3, Butler 70 2/3 — Kevin Shriver won the 100 and 200 for the Golden Tornado, while Nicco Baggetta and Tyson Pino went 1-2 in the javelin. Jason Wick placed first in the pole vault.
