The confident and historically successful Butler County Community College men’s golf team is gearing up for an eight-match schedule beginning Friday at North Park Golf Course.

The Pioneers captured a Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference crown in the fall with a 43-stroke victory. They’ll aim to win the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region 20 title, which it has done six times and most recently in 2023.

Seneca Valley graduate Jacob Marquardt, Butler graduates Xander Downing and Parker Worsley, and Mitchell Covert are among the standout golfers readying to hit the links for BC3. They were each conference all-tournament honorees in October.

Slippery Rock sprinter Samantha Gilbert was named the PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after she won the 100-meter dash in 11.83 seconds at the Dave Labor Invitational last week. She holds the No. 4 PSAC time this season in the 200 (25.03) and was on the winning 4x100 relay team (47.12).
