Concord Township polling location moves
Voters in Concord Township once again will have to travel out of their voting precinct to cast their ballots in person.
The Butler County Board of Elections requested a change of Concord Township’s polling location at the Butler County commissioners’ meeting Wednesday, April 9, as the current location is unusable.
The change will move the township’s polling place from Concord Presbyterian Church, 673 Hooker Road, West Sunbury, to North Washington fire hall, 2225 Oneida Valley Road, Petrolia.
According to Chantell McCurdy, Bureau of Elections director, the church is working on repairs, but it is taking longer than originally expected.
“Last election we partnered with the fire hall in North Washington and had to vote in the same building as that precinct, and it worked out very well. Everyone was reluctant at first, but very happy afterward,” McCurdy said. “They’re okay to stay there until the repairs on the church are completed, at which point the plan is to move them back so they can continue going in their municipality.”
The next county commissioners meeting is set for 10 a.m. April 23.
