Symphony announces new performance featuring fiddlers
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra will present “Fiddlin’ Around,” Saturday, April 12, at Butler’s Intermediate High School Auditorium, 551 Fairground Hill Road in Butler Township.
Maestro Daniel Wiley will lead the performance at 7:30 p.m. after presenting a preconcert program at 6:30 p.m. Wiley is one of three finalists for the orchestra’s open music director role.
The concert will see Broadway violinist and fiddler Caitlin Warbelow join the orchestra to present the audience with music from Irish, Acadian and Southern fiddle traditions.
Also joining the symphony is the North Allegheny Fiddlers, a group comprising students in grades six through 12 that participate in a workshop during the summer months. The students work to master a variety of styles including Scottish, Irish, Old Timey, Scandinavian, Finnish and Cajun music.
The orchestra also will honor three distinguished individuals at the concert.
Reserved seat tickets are available presale at $30 for adults, and $10 for children and students by visiting the symphony’s website at butlersymphony.org. Following presale, available tickets are sold at the door on the night of the concert at $35 for adults, and $12 for children and students.
