FBI acknowledges SWAT team’s response in Butler Township
The FBI said Friday, April 11, that its activity in Butler Township earlier this week is part of an ongoing investigation, but no other information was provided.
An FBI SWAT team and the Butler Township Police Department responded to the 600 block of Morton Avenue Wednesday, April 9, closing a portion of the road for a short time.
The FBI in its Friday statement said it could not provide additional comment on the reason for its response to a house in the area.
“The FBI was conducting authorized law enforcement activity in the Butler area Wednesday afternoon. Due to the activity being connected to an open and ongoing investigation, the FBI cannot provide further comment at this time,” Bradford Arick, public affairs specialist with FBI Pittsburgh, told the Butler Eagle.
At the time of the incident, a portion of the road was shut down while the FBI responded to the house. Local police also did not immediately provide any information on the response, or the need for the SWAT units, at the time of the reporting.
“The incident on Morton was conducted by the FBI. We did assist, but any news release will have to come from their Pittsburgh office,” Butler Township Police Department said in a Thursday email.
