Household chemical recycling offered in Karns City

The Pennsylvania Resources Council announced dates for residents to drop off old household chemicals to recycle them.

For Butler County, residents can go to Karns City Area Jr./Sr. High School on Saturday, April 12, to drop off old household chemicals.

The resources council is sponsoring spring recycling events throughout Western Pennsylvania to let residents properly dispose of chemicals, ranging from pesticides and paints to auto fluids and household cleaners.

“It’s important to divert these materials from landfills since many contain toxic elements that can leach into our waterways or introduce dangerous toxic chemicals into our environment,” executive director Darren Spielman said in a news release.
