Albert Brown III
Albert L. “Skip” Brown III, 77, of Renfrew, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 15, 1948, in Butler, to the late Albert L. Brown Jr. and Jean C. (Emery) Brown.
Al graduated from Butler High School in 1966. He then went on to enlist in the U.S. Army, serving in the military police force, eventually reaching the rank of sergeant. Al then worked for the Pennsylvania State Police as a state trooper, until retiring as a lieutenant and station commander on March 16, 2001.
He was a longtime member of Summit Presbyterian Church, as well as the Fraternal Order of Police Brady Paul Lodge, the American Legion Lyndora and the Association of Pennsylvania State Retired Troopers. Al also spent 24 years serving with the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He very much enjoyed golfing, fishing and proudly bragging about his lovely children and grandchildren. He was always quick to show their pictures to everybody he came across — friends and strangers alike.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Idelle A. (Rosenberg) Brown, whom he married Nov. 22, 1972; son, Jason (Kelly) Brown; daughter, Erin (Dan) Wilkinson; grandchildren, Ella Brown, Ali Brown, Emery Brown, Max Wilkinson and Remi Wilkinson; brother, Gary Brown; sister, Jeannie (George) Cassioli; brothers-in-law, Alan Rosenberg and David Rosenberg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and countless golf buddies.
