St. Wendelin Catholic School students in grades four through eight returned from a field trip to Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Monday to find a surprise — a brood of Steelers-themed chicks had hatched in their classroom.

As part of a 21-day embryology lesson, the fourth-grade class monitored eggs daily. The newly hatched chicks were playfully named after Steelers’ management and stars, including Egg Rooney, TJ Wattle, DK Metchick, George Chickens, Hens Ward, Yolky Blier and James Feathier.

The project was led by Lee Dittman, who guided students through the fascinating world of chick development.
