College roundup: Gianneski leads Wolverines in title game loss
Butler graduate and Grove City College sophomore Max Gianneski notched a team-high nine kills as the Wolverines fell to Thiel in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament men’s volleyball final on Saturday. The scores of the match were 25-20, 25-17 and 25-16.
Moniteau grad Emma Covert went 3 for 4 at the plate in a 12-10 Grove City College softball win over visiting Bethany on Saturday. That performance came in the second half of a twinbill, which the Wolverines (20-7, 11-3 in conference) split.
Kallen Durbin, a Seneca Valley grad and Grove City College freshman, had a pinch-hit RBI single as part of a Wolverines comeback against Franciscan on Saturday. GCC (18-9, 9-3 in conferene) won 13-11.
Butler graduate and Grove City College junior Isaac Busler placed fifth in the 800 (1:59.85) at the Westminster Invitational on Saturday. Freshmen Brandon Kendrew (Seneca Valley) and Brock Beachem (Moniteau) respectively finished sixth in the 110 high hurdles (16.61) and eighth in the javelin (145-8).
