Cranberry Township man sentenced to prison after assaulting girlfriend on cruise

A Cranberry Township man will spend one year in jail and pay a $5,000 fine for assaulting his girlfriend while the two were on a cruise ship in October 2022.

Quintin Owens, 28, was sentenced after he assaulted his girlfriend by strangling, punching and throwing her to the ground, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti.

The Western District Court of Pennsylvania has jurisdiction over the case since the incident occurred on the high seas, according to the release.

United States District Judge William S. Stickman IV spoke to the severe effect domestic violence has on victims and said the crimes are taken seriously in federal court.

Assistant United States Attorney Nicole Vasquez prosecuted the case for the government.
