John Jay Ansell, 90, of Prospect, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Concordia at Cabot.

Born Oct. 14, 1934, in Connellsville, Pa., he was the son of the late John S. and Thelma Jackson Ansell.

John was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church in Butler.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

John was a lifelong grain and beef farmer until his retirement at age 85. He worked as a farm manager at Hankins Farm in Uniontown, then the Heckmere Highlands Farm in Valencia, and lastly the McIntire Farm in Prospect.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis M. Means Ansell, whom he married June 14, 1957; his children, Mark Ansell and Keith (Judy) Ansell, all of Prospect; his granddaughters, Amanda (Michael) Bedner of Washington, Pa. and Lauren (Russ) Gibbons of Verona; his great-grandchildren, Adelynn, Owen and Brook; and his siblings, Linda Cotton of Dawson, Pa. and Carl (Lois) Ansell of Vanderbilt, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Eleanor Grooms, Donald Ansell, Louis Ansell and Kenneth Ansell.

ANSELL — Visitation for John Jay Ansell, who died Thursday, April 17, 2025, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, at RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 387 Main St., Prospect.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dawn Lynn Clark, his pastor, officiating.

Services will conclude with interment with military honors in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect.
