Marie Basehore
Marie R. Basehore, 100, of Cabot, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries at Cabot.
She was born on Dec. 30, 1924, in Harrisburg, to the late Edgar and Eva (Reinert) Rohrer.
Marie graduated from John Harris High School in 1942. She then attended the Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University), before deciding to serve her country by enlisting in the Navy, reaching the rank of aerographer’s mate, second class.
She was a longtime member of Meridian Presbyterian Church. Marie was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking pies and gardening, as well as spending time with her loving family.
Marie is survived by her four sons, Robert (Kathie) Basehore Jr., Richard (Diane) Basehore, Gary (Sharon) Basehore and Stephen Basehore; her daughter, Patricia Basehore; her nine grandchildren; as well as her six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert W. Basehore Sr., whom she married Sept. 11, 1948, and who passed away Aug. 16, 2009; as well as by her brother, Edgar Rohrer.
BASEHORE — Family and friends of Marie R. Basehore, who died Wednesday, April 16, 2025, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 23, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation at noon Wednesday, April 23, at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Franklin, of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
A military service will then take place at Butler County Memorial Park, followed by a committal service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Butler County Food Bank, 781 New Castle Road, Butler, PA 16001.
