St. John Lutheran Church hosts cross walk with live donkey
St. John Lutheran Church in Mars hosted a Good Friday Kid’s Cross Walk featuring a live donkey on Friday, April 18, to get members of all ages to remember and interact with the events of Holy Week.
The walk began around 3 p.m. with a recounting of Palm Sunday alongside singing and prayer. Attendees held palm branches as they went outside to greet Jesus, portrayed by Keith Cardinal.
Other activities at the cross walk included crafts and the nailing of pieces of paper with “sin” written on them to the cross. At the end of the service, children ripped the paper off the cross before placing it in a font of holy water.
Afterward, at 5:30 p.m., attendees were treated to the Stations of the Cross Tableaux, a silhouetted recreation of the stations of the cross.
