Cranberry Township Rotarian receives award
A resident of Cranberry Township and member of the Rich-Mar Rotary Club received the Service Above Self award this month at a Rotary District 7280 event.
Ken Fleeson was nominated by and received the award from Zachary Covington, Rotary district governor. The event took place April 12 in Venango County and was attended by dozens of leaders of regional Rotary clubs. District 7280 includes Butler County.
“Mr. Ken Fleeson is a consummate Rotarian,” Covington said. “He possesses a servant’s heart for helping others and offers it without bias or hesitation. Not only does he continue to lead and support District 7280, he is a known leader and Rotarian at the zone and International levels as well. It was an honor to nominate Ken for Rotary’s highest recognition award, and I am incredibly delighted that Rotary International selected his nomination for the 2024-25 Service Above Self Award.”
The Service Above Self award is described by Rotary International as a “prestigious award for Rotarians who demonstrate their commitment to helping others by volunteering their time and talents.” Regional leaders of Rotary can make nominations for the award, and final selections are approved by the Rotary International board of directors.
The award reads: “The Board of Directors of Rotary International, in support of District 7280's nomination, bestows this award upon Ken R. Fleeson who, through devotion and exemplary efforts, embodies Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self.”
Fleeson, district membership chairman, served as district governor from 2019 to 2020, district trainer, district Rotary Foundation chairman and is past president of the Rotary Club of Rich-Mar.
