Donna Gides

Gides

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donna (Janovich) Gides, of Zelienople, on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Born in March 1937 to the late Frank and Jean (Burckart) Janovich, Donna graduated from Zelienople High, Class of 1955, where she was a cheerleader. Donna worked at Goodyear Tire in Cranberry and for Mellon Bank in Zelienople. She retired in 1975, when she married her second husband, Michael Gides, who died May 2006.

Donna volunteered for 18 years at Passavant Community in Zelienople where she and a few other ladies formed the “Busy Hands” group where they crocheted and knitted baby blankets, caps and booties for the newborns at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. She loved to do puzzles and crafts, but her biggest loves were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her life.

Donna is survived by her children, Brad (Shawna), Cindy, Randy (Betsy) and Craig (Tammy); her grandchildren, Matthew (Alyssa), Samuel (Bri), Hayden, Hayley (Anest), Alan (Ashley), Corey; and stepgranddaughters, Caitlyn and Lara; her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Shane, Naomi and Cole; and step-great-granddaughter, Naomi; her sister, Terry (Gary); her nieces, Lara (Mike) and Holly (Mike); her great-nephew, Tyler (Haley); and great-niece, Camryn (Ethan); great-great-nephew, Hayes; and many cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 31 years; maternal grandparents, Jacob and Anna Burckart; paternal grandparents, Andrew and Lillian Janovich; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A special thank you to Passavant community and staff and Lutheran Senior Life VNA Hospice, for all your care and support.
