Cranberry officials seek funding for waterline replacement
CRANBERRY TWP — Township officials are seeking funding to complete infrastructure work in one of the oldest residential plans in Cranberry.
At a meeting on Thursday, April 24, supervisors authorized the submission of a grant application to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the LaPorte Drive Water Replacement Project.
The project will aim to replace aging cast iron waterlines with 1,560 linear feet of new ductile iron pipe in Cranberry Township’s Sun Valley Neighborhood.
According to township staff, the fourth and final phase of the multiyear infrastructure improvement will enhance water quality, reliability and system efficiency for 139 single-family homes and 21 townhomes.
Once the phase is completed, staff noted that the infrastructure in the development “will all be updated and brought to the current standards.”
Supervisors also authorized a bid for phase 3 of the Sun Valley Waterline Replacement Project. Pending positive bid results, township staff said that portion of the project will be completed in late summer early fall.
Additionally, supervisors permitted bids for the Pinebrook Drive Culvert Replacement Project. That is also set to be completed in the coming months.
