Loretta May Nicodemus

Loretta May Nicodemus, 88, of Portersville died Friday afternoon at the Countryside Convalescent Center in Mercer, Pa., after an illness.

Loretta was a Butler County native, born July 18, 1929, in Harmony, and was the daughter of Charles and Clara Youngblood Wahl.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed being the hub of her family.

Loretta was a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Catholic Church.

Survivors include, two daughters, Rita (Lenard) Allen of Harmony and Patricia Scherz of Zelienople; three sons, James (JoAnn) Nicodemus of West Sunbury, Daniel (Carolyn) Nicodemus of Portersville and Thomas Nicodemus of Slippery Rock; one sister, Sister Christopher of Pittsburgh; and one brother, Jim (Alice) Wall of Evans City; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, James Ray Nicodemus Sr., whom she married in 1946, and who died Jan. 3, 2005; eight brothers, Herman, Chuck, Lloyd, Roy, William, Sam, Richard and Leo Wall; and one grandson, Gregg Nicodemus.

NICODEMUS — Visitation for Loretta May Nicodemus, who died Friday, June 29, 2018, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jay Bryan Funeral Home, 443 Main St., in Prospect.A rosary ceremony will be recited at 10:30, before a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Christopher at the Lake Catholic Church in Prospect with the Rev. Joseph Feltz officiating. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Burial Estates in Butler.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Christopher at the Lake Catholic Church in Prospect.
