Flecken gets a second charge, no change in bail

Bryan Flecken

A district judge ordered Bryan Flecken to stand trial on terroristic threat charges after he allegedly made threats against schools in the Butler district.

District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet held the charges for court at the end of a preliminary hearing Monday in district court in Bridgeville, Allegheny County.

Assistant District Attorney Jeffery Tisak said that the prosecution was adding a second misdemeanor terroristic threats charge to show Flecken's comments showed reckless disregard causing public inconvenience or terror.

Defense attorney Giuseppe Rosselli argued Flecken's comments that lead to the charges were part of a conversation and not intended to be a threat. He said Flecken was questioning another commenter about what he would do after purchasing guns, and did not make a statement about doing anything himself.

Tisak said the response by the Butler School District to alter access to the campus showed the comments were taken as a threat, and the inconvenience was caused to the public at large.
