Carl A. Karenbauer

Carl A. Karenbauer, 72, of Chicora died at 12:15 a.m. Monday in the Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

He was born in Chicora, Feb. 14, 1938, the son of the late Peter M. Karenbauer and the late Agatha W. Weiland Karenbauer.

He was a coal miner and a farmer in the Chicora area for many years.

He was a member of the North Butler Presbyterian Church and the North American Hunting Club.

Surviving are five sons, Robert Merle Karenbauer and his wife, Dana, of Ellwood City, Steven Anthony Karenbauer and his wife, Pam, of Brookville, Fla., Mark Eugene Karenbauer of Ellwood City, Peter Michael Karenbauer of Greensburg and Marshall Karenbauer of Butler; two daughters, Ruth Lavina Karenbauer and her companion, Terry Roberts, of Portersville and Wendy Elaine Cook and her husband, Robert, of Brookville, Fla.; his longtime companion, Dolores Alwine of Chicora; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Kuzma of Cooks Forest.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Dunlap; a sister, Dorothy Kepple; and eight brothers, George, Eugene, Paul, Peter, Harry, James, Ralph and Harvey Karenbauer.

<B>KARENBAUER</B> — Friends of Carl A. Karenbauer, who died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets in Chicora. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Kitchen, pastor of North Butler Presbyterian Church, Oakland Township, officiating.
