Ruth Matheson

Ruth Elizabeth Matheson, 92, of Saxonburg, formerly of Mars, passed away on Friday morning, Jan. 7, 2022, at the Embassy of Saxonburg.

Born on June 17, 1929, in Liverpool, England, she was the daughter of the late William and Georgina Appleton Smyth.

Ruth was the cafeteria manager for St. John's dietary department and worked as a clerk for the Mars Drug Store.

She belonged to the Mars VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Royal Neighbors.

She is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Rod) Klinzing in New York and Margaret (Jeff) Boyle of Saxonburg; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale W. Matheson, whom she married on Nov. 14, 1953, and who died on Dec. 20, 2001; and four sisters.

MATHESON — Arrangements for Ruth Elizabeth Matheson, who died Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, are private and are under the direction of McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
