Juveniles charged with Penn Theater vandalism
Butler city police on Tuesday charged three juvenile males with breaking into and vandalizing the Penn Theater last month.
Police said the juveniles have been charged with burglary and criminal mischief for their roles in the incident, which took place in early January.
The suspects were identified through video footage and cooperated in the investigation, police said.
Charges will be filed in juvenile court and will involve a significant amount of restitution, police said.
Vandals entered the shuttered theater through a rear door, which was in the process of being reinforced. Once inside, they spray-painted the screen, stage, walls, doors and seats.
The damage was discovered by a maintenance worker for the Butler Redevelopment Authority, which owns the building. It is not clear when the break-in occurred.
