Ervin

Sylvia A. "Sam" Ervin, 72, of Austintown, Ohio, died early Monday morning at her home.

She was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Butler, a daughter of Warren "Gene" and Sylvia (McCullough) McCommon; and she moved to the Austintown area in 1958.

She was a 1956 graduate of Butler High School, and she spent her adult life as a homemaker raising her two boys.

She had a green thumb and loved tending to her garden. Her other joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

Sam was a kind and loving lady, and she will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, William G. Ervin, whom she married March 29, 1958. She also leaves two sons, William G. (Veronica) Ervin Jr. of Austintown and Jeffrey K. (Renee) Ervin of Canfield, Ohio; six grandchildren, Danny, Ryan, Jena, Dustin, Alex and Mya; three brothers, Warren and Thomas McCommon and David (Julie) McCommon, all of Butler; two sisters; Bonnie Manning of Erie and Frieda Krause of Butler; 28 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Daniel.
