Rose M. Schumacher, 92, of the Chicora Medical Center, formerly of East Brady, died Sunday.

She was born Dec. 16, 1920, in Kaylor, Pa., and was the daughter of Joseph and Teresa (Lozar) Bratkovich.

On Nov. 26, 1946, Rose married John B. Schumacher. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1983.

Rose was an oil canner for PennDrake in Karns City for two years, then worked for Damen Industries in Bradys Bend for five years and later returned to Damen as a custodian. She was employed in the sales department of Fuhrer's Clothing in East Brady for 10 years. She was a waitress at the St. Cloud Hotel in East Brady for a number of years and also was employed by the Armstrong School District as a custodian.

Rose was a member of the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church in East Brady where she was the past president of the former ladies guild and volunteered countless hours helping with church dinners, bingo, festivals and other functions.

She was an avid bingo player who also loved reading and cooking. Rose never missed a card party and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by one daughter, Mary Donaldson and her husband, William, of East Brady; two sons, John Schumacher and his wife, Laurie, of Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, and Joseph Schumacher and his wife, Lorraine, of Chicora; one grandson, William Donaldson and his fiancée, Tracy Woods, of Manassas, Va.; four granddaughters, Dena Crawford and her husband, Chad, of Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, Amanda Salizzoni and her husband, Brad, of Rimersburg, Katie Schumacher of Bradenton, Fla., and Emily Schumacher of Chicora; three great-grandsons, Tony and Christian Salizzoni and Chase Crawford; and one great-granddaughter, Marley Crawford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Martin, Joseph, Frank, John and Henry; and four sisters, Mary, Sophie, Isabell and Ann.

SCHUMACHER — Friends of Rose M. Schumacher, who died Sunday, March 17, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home, 105 4th St., East Brady, PA 16028A parish prayer service will be in the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church, East Brady. The Rev. William Kuba will officiate.
