COVID-19 UPDATE 6/10: Local Rite Aid to offer drive-through testing
Butler County's numbers fluctuated again after the state's Department of Health again changed the way it is reporting COVID-19 data.
According to the department's report Wednesday, Butler County has 250 total cases with 223 of those cases having been confirmed. There were 27 cases listed as probable, and 4,377 negative tests in the county.
The county's death toll remained at 12.
For the past two weeks, the Department of Health has talked about companies stepping up to provide further testing.
In a news release Wednesday, Rite Aid announced beginning Thursday, its Butler Main Street location will conduct drive-through testing.
“We live our mission at Rite Aid, which is to keep the communities we serve healthy,” said Chris Savares, director of public relations for Rite Aid.
The locations will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tests will have the patient using self-swab nasal tests overseen by pharmacists.
The tests are for screening purposes. They show whether a person currently has COVID-19, and does not include antibody testing.
To use the service, patients will need to preregister online, produce a government-issued ID and be older than 18 years of age.
