Charles 'Mickey' Deahl Sr.

Charles Deahl

Charles “Mickey” Deahl Sr. passed away surrounded by his family at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital and he will be terribly missed.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1932, in Arnold, Pa., to the late Clarence Deahl and Alice (Seanor) Deahl.

Mickey was an active member of the North Main Street Church of God. He received a commercial art degree from Edinboro University.

He was the founder and president of Butler Consumer Discount Co. in 1969 until it was bought by Northwest Savings Bank.

Mickey is in the Butler Baseball Hall of Fame for coaching and pitching. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He taught oil painting at Butler County Community College. Mickey was a Boy Scout scoutmaster. His family was extremely important to him and he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Judith (Black) Deahl, who he married on Feb. 8, 1958; his son, Chuck Deahl Jr.; his three daughters, Evie (Deahl) Barnes, Dede (Deahl) Wishing and her husband, Lee, and Chris (Deahl) Powell and her husband, Scott; his 10 grandchildren; his sister, Margaret “Peg” Simmer; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert E. Deahl and John A. Deahl, and his three sisters, Dena M. Brown, Bertie DiBlasio and June Doss.

Deahl — The friends of Charles “Mickey” Deahl Sr., who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with the Rev. Brandon Lenhart of North Main Street Church of God officiating. Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
