Gretta Gene Miller
Gretta Gene Miller, 88, of East Brady died Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital.
She was born Jan. 29, 1925, in East Brady, and was the daughter of Harry E. and Margretta F. (Lowther) Brown.
On April 6, 1946, Gretta married Theodore B. “Ted” Miller. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2006.
After graduating from East Brady High School in 1943, she attended the Margie Stewart School of Radio Announcing in Pittsburgh.
Gretta worked at Bud’s Market in East Brady for a few years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of East Brady, where she was the first female elder. She also served as choir director, was a worship committee member and a member of the Presbyterian Women.
Gretta was a member of the East Brady chapter of the Red Hat Society.
Gretta along with her sister, Cricket, led singing for the local veteran’s programs and at the Bradys Bend Senior Center.
She loved her family dearly, especially her great-grandchildren, and she loved to laugh and be silly.
Surviving are one daughter, Christine E. Bernstein and her husband, Jeff, of East Brady; one son, Michael E. Miller and his wife, Amy, of East Brady; two grandsons, Brad Miller of East Brady and Eric Miller of Pittsburgh; two granddaughters, Megan Slaugenhoup and her husband, Dan, of East Brady and Katherine Heginbotham and her husband, Steve, of East Brady; three great-granddaughters, Kate and Emma Slaugenhoup and Audrey Heginbotham; one great-grandson, Owen Heginbotham; one brother, Harry E. Brown Jr. of Bartlesville, Okla., and one sister, Helene “Cricket” Slater of East Brady.
She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gretta was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ted.
MILLER — A memorial service for Gretta Gene Miller, who died Wednesday, April 24, 2012, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in East Brady with the Rev. Raymond Eichler officiating.
The Miller family suggests memorial contributions be made to the East Brady Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 325, East Brady, PA 16028
