Samuel John Holfman

Samuel John Holfman, 53, of Slippery Rock, Brady Township, passed away at UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh at 11:54 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born Sept. 30, 1961, in Butler to Samuel Frederick and Eva Jane Taylor Holfman.

He married Kathleen Michelle Sedwick on Sept. 10, 1988.

Samuel graduated from Mars High School in 1979 and Jameson Hospital School of Nursing in 2005. He was a registered nurse and was currently employed by Gentiva Hospice.

He was a member of Slippery Rock United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Hannah, and his son, Thomas, all at home; his mother, Eva Jane Holfman of Chicora; two sisters, Dawn and her husband, Kevin Strobel, of Fenelton and Susan Leonberg of Portersville; his brother, Peter Holfman and his wife, Becky, of Cape Coral, Fla.; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doug and Marilyn Arblaster of Slippery Rock.

He is preceded in death by his father.

HOLFMAN — The family of Samuel John Holfman, who died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Keith McIlwain, pastor of Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, presiding. Interment will be at Slippery Rock Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Slippery Rock United Methodist Church or Gentiva Hospice, Pittsburgh.
