John H. 'Jack' Santypal Jr.
John H. “Jack” Santypal Jr., 70, of Walkchalk Road, Kittanning, East Franklin Township, Armstrong County, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
John was born Oct. 28, 1943, in Evans City. He was the son of the late John H. Sr. and Ina Burr Santypal.
He was a 1961 graduate of Evans City High School.
He served for six years with the U.S. Army National Guard of Pennsylvania in the 706th Military Police Company in Butler. He was also a U.S. Army Reservist.
Jack worked in road construction and was a mechanic for Mashuda Corp. for 40 years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, camping, boating and raising chickens, but most especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack and his wife looked forward to spending the winter months in Arcadia, Fla.
In his earlier years, Jack attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Connoquenessing.
Surviving is his wife, Shirley Stitt Santypal, who he married at St. John Lutheran Church on Jan. 29, 1983. Also surviving are his six children, Diane R. (Derek) Headland of Chicora, Steven E. (Billie Jo) Santypal of Harrisville, Douglas J. (Jamie) Crissman of Sunrise, Fla., Michael R. (Rose) Crissman of Ford City, Pamela J. (Jason) Husar of Kittanning, and Lori A. (Gregory) Nulph of Kittanning; his 10 grandchildren, Cory and Tyler Headland, Joseph Santypal, Aaron and Janine Crissman, Lance Nulph (Nicole), Lindsay Dudley (Marcus), Jessica Crissman, Zachary Zema (Tasha) and Matthew Smith; a number of great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Darlene (Clark) Neibar and Velma Santypal, both of Evans City; his special cousin, George; as well as a number of other cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Reinhart, and his son, James A. Crissman Jr.

Gary Brown, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Connoquenessing, officiating.Military honors by Chicora VFW and Chicora and Bradys Bend American Legion posts will follow at the funeral home.
