WASHINGTON TWP — A woman was transported to the hospital by helicopter after a crash between her vehicle and a semi-truck on Oneida Valley Road on Wednesday afternoon in Washington Township.

The accident resulted in traffic being rerouted at the intersection of Fairview Road and Oneida Valley Road from a little after 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. when the road reopened.

According to Ryan Enscoe, assistant chief of North Washington Volunteer Fire Department, the accident occurred near 2343 Oneida Valley Road. Both vehicles sustained damage to their fronts and sides and were towed from the scene.

Enscoe said the accident is still under investigation, but it appears the vehicles “rubbed against each other,” resulting in the the smaller vehicle crashing into the hillside.

“We had to do a door and roof removal. The driver’s side door was in the hillside; we couldn’t get her out,” he said.

The Allegheny General Hospital helicopter landed at the International Professional Rodeo property and transported the female driver. The driver of the semi-truck was evaluated and refused medical treatment.

State police, North Washington, Eau Claire and Bruin Volunteer Fire Departments, and Karns City Regional and East Butler Ambulance Services all responded to the crash.
